Baltimore Beats Montreal as Diego Throws 3-0 Shutout
Sunday, August 11th , 1974
The Montreal Habitants were almost helpless in their 3-0 loss to the Baltimore Lords and hurler Larry Diego. Diego kept the Habitants confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Diego," Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 29-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Diego said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
In 22 starts this season, Diego has rung up a 12-4 record and a 1.98 ERA.
