Jose Chapa Out for Season Tuesday, September 5th , 1967 The season is finished for Jose Chapa of the St. Louis Explorers. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Explorers starting pitcher suffered a ruptured disc while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Brooklyn Bluebirds. Team doctors said it would take at least 8 months to heal. To date this season, Chapa has a record of 7 wins and 3 losses and a 2.63 ERA. He has appeared in 13 games and struck out 62 in 89 innings. |
