Brooklyn Blanked by Chapa
Tuesday, September 5th , 1967
Jose Chapa was in a zone of his own most of the day, shutting out the Brooklyn Bluebirds on 4 hits.

"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled Brooklyn manager John Meeker after the 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Explorers.

Chapa finished with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.

In the postgame press conference, St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood said Chapa "had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. He just pitched his butt off."

So far this season, Chapa has logged a 8-3 record with a 2.63 ERA. He has started 13 games, hurled 89 innings and registered 62 strikeouts and 15 walks.
