Packers Juarez Tames Pittsburgh
Thursday, September 14th , 1967
The Pittsburgh Industrials were almost helpless today in their 1-0 loss to the Cincinnati Packers and hurler Ramon Juarez. Juarez kept the Industrials confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Juarez," Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 26-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 9 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Juarez said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
So far this season Juarez has a 11-13 record with a 3.62 ERA.
