Tuesday, July 31st , 1973
San Francisco right fielder Bobby Tapia led the Seagulls to a triumph, 9-3, over the Seattle Emeralds, crushing three home runs.
"He's scary good when he's swinging the bat like that," said San Francisco skipper Al Borie.
Indeed, Tapia put up some "scary good" numbers: three homers, 3 hits in 3 at-bats with 3 runs and 4 RBIs.
"I'm just thinkin' about winning ballgames," Tapia said. "When you think about home runs, you very seldom get 'em."
Bobby Tapia walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Tim McDonald in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Tim McDonald in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Ron Woods in the 7th.
This season, Tapia is batting .355 with 140 hits, 12 home runs, 68 RBIs, 50 walks, .428 OBP and has scored 68 runs. He has played in 110 games.
