Fletcher's Season Could be Over
Wednesday, August 25th , 1971
The doctors have spoken and Larry Fletcher of the Boston Terriers didn't like what he heard. The 23-year-old second baseman is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Fletcher sustained his season-ending injury during the Montreal Habitants game yesterday at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while running the bases. Today the Boston medical staff reported Fletcher had a ruptured ligament in his knee and would be absent from the lineup for at least 8-9 months.
At present, Fletcher is batting .263 and has collected 4 home runs, 35 RBIs, .316 OBP and scored 52 runs.
