Monday, September 20th , 1971
They put up a valiant effort, but the Chicago Traders didn't have what it takes to make the Major League Baseball playoffs in 1971. The club was officially eliminated from postseason qualification today.

"Sucks," said Traders starting pitcher Larry Cox.

Before this season, the Traders had made the playoffs 2 times in a row. In the 96 years they have been a Major League Baseball franchise, they have missed the playoffs 72 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Traders have made the playoffs 2 times. Chicago last won the World Series in 1953.
