Steinhauer, on Top of His Game, Beats Chicago, 7-0
Tuesday, October 7th , 1975
In a seemingly effortless performance, Gene Steinhauer of the Pittsburgh Industrials shot down the Chicago Traders, 7-0, on 6 hits.
"Gene was just locating so well and using his pitches," Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Steinhauer recorded 1 strikeout and 3 walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Chicago manager Larry Link said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
This year, Steinhauer has compiled a 10-8 mark with a 4.42 ERA in 28 starts.
