Zero Hour: Bryant Blanks Hawks Saturday, September 9th , 1972 In an outstanding mound performance, Detroit Wolverines starter Jim Bryant fired a complete-game shutout against the Chicago Hawks at Hyde Park Stadium. Bryant was the key to the 4-0 Detroit win. The 29-year-old right-hander was in high spirits for much of the game, his mood largely unfazed by the 3 hits and 3 walks he allowed. "3 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter, as long as it was a shutout." So far this season, Bryant has 18 wins and 6 losses and a 2.33 ERA.
