Spencer Wins August's Rookie Award Sunday, September 1st , 1974 Youngster Rudy Spencer emerged as the latest American Baseball League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Atlanta deserved the honor, batting .269 with 2 home runs and 14 runs batted in. Is the month of August a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Spencer enjoy the limelight. Thus far this season in 77 games, Spencer is batting .261 with 3 home runs, 23 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 41 hits in 157 at-bats. |
