Playoffs Won't Happen for Terriers
Saturday, September 16th , 1972
It's now time for the Boston Terriers to start turning their attention to what can be done to help improve the club for next season. The team was formally eliminated from playoff contention today for the 1972 season.
"We knew a title was a long shot at this point, but mentally there's a big difference between a tiny chance and no chance at all," said Terriers starting pitcher Alex Alonso.
This is the club's 4th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1968. In total, the Terriers have missed the playoffs 88 times in their 97-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Terriers have made the playoffs 3 times. Boston last won the World Series in 1951.
