Bulls, Mitchell Blank St. Louis, 1-0
Saturday, September 16th , 1972
Tom Mitchell bent a little, but he didn't break against the St. Louis Explorers. The Kansas City Bulls pitcher hurled a 3-hit, 1-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 4 walks and tallying 2 strikeouts.
"Tom is good at getting out of jams," Bulls manager DD Martin told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
Mitchell has started 30 times this year, pitched 230 innings, fanned 130 batters and walked 89. His current record is 12 wins and 10 losses with a 2.78 ERA.
