New York Eliminated from Playoff Contention

The New York Knickerbockers may still need a piece or two before becoming championship material in Major League Baseball. The team has fallen short of its playoff goals this year, being officially eliminated from the playoffs today.

"I feel like we have a great group," Knickerbockers manager Timothy Widholm said. "We happened to come up short or our goal, though. We'll re-tool and be back stronger next season."

Before this season, the Knickerbockers had made the playoffs 2 times in a row. In the 99 years they have been a Major League Baseball franchise, they have missed the playoffs 65 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Knickerbockers have missed the playoffs 6 times. New York has won the World Series 17 times in their history.
