San Diego CL Prater Will Miss 5 Months Tuesday, October 15th , 1974 When Ed Prater was hurt against the Pittsburgh Industrials, the San Diego Captains were hopeful that the injury was not serious. However, it proved to be more severe than first thought. The 27-year-old closer suffered a torn tendon in his elbow throwing a pitch in yesterday's game. Team doctors told BNN today that Prater would miss 5 months of the season. This year, his stats show Prater has 10 saves in 33 relief appearances with a 5-1 mark and 2.43 ERA.
