It's been a year of triumph for veteran Pete Morrison of the Detroit Wolverines as he hit his way to the 1971 American Baseball League Most Valuable Player Award.

The 30-year-old veteran compiled a .283 average and .392 on-base percentage by putting together 161 hits, 26 doubles, 7 triples, 38 home runs and 90 walks. He also scored 112 times and drove in 127 runs.

Jackie Frost of the Houston Drillers finished second in voting, while Jorge Luna of the Toronto Hurons finished third.
