Spokane Shut Out, 9-0, By Friars, Placeholder Wednesday, July 4th , 1962 Triple A Placeholder shut down the Spokane Cougars today, blanking them 9-0 on 9 hits, ringing up 1 strikeout and allowing 4 walks. The San Diego Friars pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on. "I don't know if I was getting any stronger," Placeholder said after the game. "I feel like my mechanics were getting better. I was able to make some adjustments and get a little more comfortable out there." This year Placeholder has fashioned a 1-2 mark, 2.75 ERA and pitched 39.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .272 against him and he has logged 18 strikeouts. |
