Red-Hot Nelson WBL Player of the Week
Monday, August 27th , 1962
A hot-hitting week got Tim Nelson the Western Baseball League Player of the Week trophy. He really wore out his welcome with league pitchers.
The San Diego shortstop slammed them for a .407 average, 11 hits in 27 at-bats, 1 home run, 11 RBIs and scored 7 runs.
In the postgame press conference, Nelson shared his hitting philosophy with the BNN scribes: "Just look for the seams and hit between them... nothin' more than that."
For the year Nelson is batting .313 with 63 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 36 times and driven in 39.
