Raiders Get Zilch in 9-0 Loss to Bulls, Barber
Tuesday, August 21st , 1962
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Don Barber of the Omaha Bulls proved the point at Omaha NE minor league park today, holding the Cedar Rapids Raiders to 4 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Barber made us look real bad today," Raiders manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Barber had 4 strikeouts and gave up 6 walks as the Bulls took the 9-0 win.
Checking out his stats for the season, Barber has registered 9 wins and 1 loss in 13 starts, 1.72 ERA and struck out 72 batters in 94.1 innings.
