Biggs Hot, Soos Cold Sunday, August 20th , 1961 It wasn't easy but the Lincoln Links made it look that way. Starter Tony Biggs shut out the Sioux City Soos despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Lincoln Links cruised to victory, 8-0. Biggs allowed only 2 hits and rang up 9 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." To date this season Biggs has compiled a 4-4 record with a 4.22 ERA in 8 starts. |
