Placeholder Shuts Out Bakersfield, 7-0 Wednesday, August 22nd , 1962 Single A Placeholder kept the Bakersfield Bears hitters from doing any damage at Reno NV minor league park today. Bakersfield could only muster 3 hits and take 4 walks against the right-handed Placeholder, who controlled them throughout the game as Reno took the contest, 7-0. Placeholder added 4 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Placeholder told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." This season Placeholder has compiled a 6-9 mark with a 3.85 ERA in 18 starts. |
