Coomes GSL's #1 Pitcher in August Saturday, September 1st , 1962 Steve Coomes really strutted his stuff in August with 3 wins and 1 loss and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Gold and Silver Baseball League. The Fresno starter was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition. In 37.2 innings of work, Coomes limited opposing batters to 10 base hits and a .088 batting average.
