Lakeland-Panama City Brawl, Peebles and Unknown Suspended Saturday, June 10th , 1961 After an intense confrontation, both the Pilots Chuck Peebles and the Pelicans Jim Unknown were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Lakeland-Panama City game. Chuck Peebles will miss 3 games, while Jim Unknown was suspended for 6 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Chuck Peebles commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." This year Peebles has made 18 starts, thrown 109.2 innings, fanned 110 batters and walked 45. His won-lost record is 7-7 with a 4.68 ERA. |
