Sarasota Twirler Wins GCL Best Player Trophy Monday, July 30th , 1962 The top-rated player in the Gulf Coast Baseball League this week was a pitcher. Steve Gilmore of the Sarasota Anglers outdistanced all challengers by leading his team to 2 wins in 2 starts. Last week he had a 2-0 won-lost mark with an impressive 2.70 ERA.
