GCL Starter of the Month Goes to Rains Saturday, September 1st , 1962 Don Rains of Pensacola excelled on the mound in August with a 4-0 record and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the Gulf Coast Baseball League. Rains restricted opposing batters to 18 base hits and a .148 batting average. He rang up 31 strikeouts in 36.1 innings of work, surrendered 13 walks, and fashioned a 0.99 ERA. In his career Rains has fashioned a 8-3 mark, 1.71 ERA and thrown 110.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .153 lifetime against him and he has logged 93 career strikeouts. |
