A new league and eight new teams brought ooportunities for innovation in uniform design, or at least the continuation of emerging trends. The ABL’s Houston, Montreal, and Toronto (along with Baltimore of the NBL) adopted graphic symbols as cap logos, while the ABL’s Seattle and the NBL’s Philadelphia opted for zippers in lieu of buttons. The latter two clubs also ushered in vest-like sleeveless jerseys. Lastly, San Francisco of the ABL accented their deep red with teal, a shade not previously seen on major league uniforms. None of these features would dominate major league fashion in the years to come, but all would enjoy at least a brief vogue. |
