Road Win Lifts Pittsburgh to 1-0 Lead in World Series
Grant McGee and the Pittsburgh Weavers opened the World's Championship Series in brilliant fashion today, traveling to Philadelphia and shutting out the host Quakers at Schuylkill River Park 2-0 to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. McGee, the Weavers right-hander, was named player of the game as he threw 9 innings of shutout ball.

McGee, who was born in Maynard, Ohio, threw 127 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing no earned runs.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Pittsburgh manager said.

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow in Philadelphia. Slated to start are Prince Bales for Pittsburgh and Soup Boles for Philadelphia.
