Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Weavers, 4-3
The Pittsburgh Weavers moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Philadelphia Quakers at Dormont Park by a score of 4-3. Weavers right-hander Bertie Albaugh was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings allowing 3 runs. The win gives the Weavers a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 World's Championship Series.

The Weavers took the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the eighth. Antony Vernon had the clutch at-bat. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 2-run single.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Pittsburgh manager .

The next game is set to be played Tuesday. Slated to start are Grant McGee for the Pittsburgh Weavers and Bernhard Green for the the Philadelphia Quakers.
