Raucous Schuylkill River Park Crowd Propels Quakers to 5-3 Victory; Series Tied at 3
The Philadelphia Quakers and the Pittsburgh Weavers will take the World's Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Quakers beat the Weavers 5-3 at Schuylkill River Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Philadelphia right-hander Bernhard Green was named player of the game in the win after he threw 9 innings of 8-hit ball.

Had Caleb Westbrook not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Westbrook hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Quakers.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Green told reporters after the game.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Prince Bales for Pittsburgh and Junior Brownell for Philadelphia.
