to Settle Game 1, Pittsburgh Now Leads Series 1-0
|
When the games really matter,
the Pittsburgh

Quakers by a final score of 7-5 today. Uriah
Beach earned player of the game honors, as he
went 4-5 with a triple, 3 singles, and a walk. He

leads Philadelphia 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.
The most important at-bat for Pittsburgh came in the

Leopold reached on an error by the SS, driving
in 2 runs, putting Pittsburgh up, 7-5.
"Things broke our way today and that's great,"
Weavers manager said. "It's important, though, to
stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too
much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at
Schuylkill River Park in Philadelphia. Slated to
start are Ervin
Fair for the Pittsburgh Weavers and Junior
Brownell for the the Philadelphia Quakers.
