Philadelphia Wins at Home
to Take 2-1 Lead in World Series
|
The Philadelphia
Quakers got an exceptional performance from
starter Bernhard
Green, who silenced the Cincinnati
offense en route to a 3-0 shutout win in Game 3 of
the World's Series today. The Packers could never
get a bead on the right-handed Green, who threw 9
innings of shutout ball to earn player of the game
honors. The Quakers now hold a 2-1 advantage in the
best-of-7 series.
Green pitched a complete game for Philadelphia. The
right-hander was charged with no runs on 6 hits. He
struck out 3 during his 116-pitch performance.
"It's a mindset," said Green. "Just trying to do
your job, trying to be consistent."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at
Schuylkill River Park. The scheduled starters for
the game are Bert
Apple for the Cincinnati Packers and Byron
Kneeland for the the Philadelphia Quakers.
