Traders Even With
Knickerbockers After Extra-Innings Win
|
The Chicago
Traders went the distance and then some at
Knickerbocker Stadium today to drag themselves back
into a tie with the New
York Knickerbockers.
It took 10 innings to settle Game 2 of the World
Series, but Chicago eventually took the 5-4 win
despite the performance of New York starting pitcher
and player of the game Bill
Price, who threw 6 innings of shutout ball.
The clubs are now tied 1-1 in their best-of-7
series.
Doc Price's
hit in the top of the tenth was a game-changer. With
two out, he rapped a slider from Horace
Payne for a run-scoring single. It put Chicago
in front, 5-4.
"We're one game closer to our goal," Chicago manager
said later. "It isn't any more complicated than
that."
Game 3 is scheduled for Friday in Chicago. The
scheduled starters for the game are Ray
Underwood for New York and Aart
MacDonald for Chicago.
