Traders Even With
Knickerbockers After Extra-Innings Win
|
The Chicago
Traders got a strong game from starter Bunny
Bryant, but it was some clutch hitting that
ultimately delivered the win.
The Traders took the 4-3 win over the New
York Knickerbockers in Game 4 of the World
Series in a 11th inning walk-off today. The win
capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Bryant,
who was named player of the game. Bryant threw 8
innings allowing 3 runs in the win, which brought
the Traders into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Late in the game, first baseman Howie
Walton had a big at-bat for Chicago. In the
bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single off
Tiny Winfree.
The play gave the Traders a 4-3 lead.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said
winning manager .
Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow at Union Field.
The scheduled starters for the game are Red
Risher for the New York Knickerbockers and Albert
England for the the Chicago Traders.
