Traders 3-2 in World Series Contest
|
The New
York Knickerbockers topped the Chicago
Traders by the score of 3-2 and moved into a
1-1 tie in the World Series today. The largest share
of the credit went to player of the game and New
York starter Jerry
Sneed, who threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball in
the win.
Corky Leonard,
who won the Most Valuable Player Award in 1944,
aided the New York cause with a run-scoring single
in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first
baseman was 1 for 4.
"I like our mindset right now," said New York
manager .
The next game is set to be played Friday at Union
Field in Chicago. The scheduled starters for the
game are Alex
McKinney for New York and Charlie
Cruickshank for Chicago.
