Claim 2-1 Series Lead |
Riding the 2-hit performance
of center fielder Bert
Watt, the Chicago
Traders got a road win against the New
York Empires, 7-2, in Game 3 of the World
Series today. Watt went 2-3 with a triple and 2
walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the
Traders, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games
to 1.
The game turned with one out in the top of the
seventh when Watt hit a bases-clearing triple. It
propelled the Traders into the lead, 5-2.
"We'll savor this win," Watt told the Chicago
Gazette, "then get ready for the next game."
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Queens Field.
The scheduled starters for the game are Joe
Tonner for the Chicago Traders and Mike
Higgins for the the New York Empires.
