Empires Even With Traders
After Walk-Off Win
|
The New
York Empires got a strong game from starter Mike
Higgins, but it was some clutch hitting that
ultimately delivered the win.
The Empires took the 2-1 win over the Chicago
Traders in Game 4 of the World Series in a 9th
inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine
outing for the right-handed Higgins,
who was named player of the game. Higgins threw 9
innings allowing 1 run in the win, which brought the
Empires into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.
A.J. King
was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game
tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Empires
catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send
the teams home.
King called the win the result of "everyone being in
sync."
Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at Queens Field.
Slated to start are Joe
Shannon for the Chicago Traders and Tom
Green for the the New York Empires.
