Traders Rally Past Hurons to Claim 1-0 Series Lead
The Chicago Traders started the World Series in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the Toronto Hurons in a walk-off. Chicago won 4-3 behind a good day from starter Joe Shannon. The right-hander threw 9 innings of 8-hit ball in the win, which gave the Traders a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.

Red Miller was the walk-off hero for Chicago. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Traders shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

"This place went bonkers at the end," Shannon said.

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Union Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Sam Partridge for the Toronto Hurons and Aart MacDonald for the the Chicago Traders.
