Boston Takes Series Lead
in Low-Scoring Affair |
When the stakes were high, Ben
McHargue raised his game to match.
The right-handed McHargue turned in a stellar
performance in Game 3 of the World Series today,
pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead
the Boston Terriers
to victory. He allowed 8 hits and struck out 0. The
win gave Boston a 2-1 lead over the Chicago
Traders in the best-of-7 series.
In the bottom of the third, Boston catcher Frankie
Barton had a productive at-bat. With runners
on 1st and 2nd and no one out, Barton stroked a
run-scoring single to right. It made the score 3-2,
Boston. For the game, he was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"It was a good win," Boston manager Clark Anderson
told BNN reporters after the game. "I told them I
was proud of them. These guys are professional
ballplayers, they know how to get motivated without
my help."
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Atlantic Avenue
Grounds. Slated to start are Eduardo
Rodriguez for the Chicago Traders and Clint
Schultz for the the Boston Terriers.
