Host Beavers Drop Pivotal
Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2
|
In a pivotal Game 5, the Detroit
Wolverines were hoping for a big game from
starter Clay
Gillespie. They got one.
The right-hander shut out the Buffalo
Beavers, proving to be the difference-maker as
he led his club to a 2-0 victory. The Wolverines
took the 2-0 win over the Buffalo
Beavers to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7
series.
Gillespie was in the zone all game. He frustrated
Buffalo hitters while giving the Wolverines 9
innings of quality work. Gillespie threw 127
pitches, allowing 5 hits and getting 2 punchouts.
"We played hard and won," said Gillespie.
"Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The next game is set to be played Tuesday, October
14th, 1952 at Wolverine Field. The scheduled
starters for the game are Tony
Williams for Buffalo and Les
Nash for Detroit.
