Home Loss Shrinks Lords'
Series Lead to 3-2 |
Facing elimination, the Detroit
Wolverines were looking for a savior. For
today, at least, Les
Nash delivered.
At Seton Hill Stadium, the 27-year old pitched a
game for the ages to fend off the Baltimore
Lords and help the Wolverines close their
deficit in the World Series. Nash threw a 9-inning,
complete-game shutout in the 2-0 Detroit win,
striking out 3 and allowing 5 hits. The Wolverines
how trail 2-3 in the best-of-7 series.
Nash, a native of Burlington, Iowa, was dealing all
game. He kept Baltimore hitters off-balance, while
giving the Wolverines 9 quality innings. Nash threw
112 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 3.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of
the plate," Nash said.
The next game is scheduled for Saturday, October
25th, 1952 at Wolverine Field. Slated to start are Ben
Flowers for the Baltimore Lords and Ray
Barker for the the Detroit Wolverines.
