Terriers Win to Extend
Series Lead to 2-0 |
When the stakes were high, Harry
Vickers raised his game to match.
The right-handed Vickers turned in a stellar
performance in Game 2 of the World Series today,
pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead
the Boston Terriers
to victory. He allowed 10 hits and struck out 2. The
win gave Boston a 2-0 lead over the Chicago
Traders in the best-of-7 series.
Boston used a timely hit from Roy
McDonald to get the win. The third baseman
stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth
inning to put the Terriers ahead, 3-2. It was his
only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"By the skin of our teeth, man," McDonald told the
Boston Daily News. "But hey, it still counts. A few
more by the skin of our teeth is fine with me."
The next game is scheduled for Sunday at Atlantic
Avenue Grounds. The scheduled starters for the game
are Eduardo
Rodriguez for the Chicago Traders and Bob
Griffin for the the Boston Terriers.
