Wolverines Get Past Knickerbockers 4-2 to Open LCS
The Detroit Wolverines started the League Championship Series in style today, winning on the road against the New York Knickerbockers at Knickerbocker Stadium by a score of 4-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Wolverines left-hander Gene Wingate threw 9 innings of 8-hit ball.

Pat Clark, the two-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Clark contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Detroit up, 4-2.

"We played hard and won," said Wingate. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Knickerbocker Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Clay Gillespie for Detroit and Rick Sumner for New York.
