Wolverines Hammered by Divine, Drop Game 2 to Knickerbockers
The New York Knickerbockers relied on the hitting of center fielder Chuck Divine to get by the Detroit Wolverines, 5-3, in Game 2 of the League Championship Series today. For the game, Divine was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The clubs are now tied, 1-1.

The Knickerbockers took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Facing Detroit hurler Clay Gillespie with two outs, Divine hit a 2-run home run.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," New York manager William Bowen told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

The next game is set to be played Friday at Wolverine Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Doug Leonard for the New York Knickerbockers and Les Nash for the the Detroit Wolverines.
