Wolverines Clip
Knickerbockers 3-2 in LCS Contest
|
The Detroit
Wolverines and the New
York Knickerbockers will take the League
Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. In a
must-win situation today, the Wolverines beat the
Knickerbockers 3-2 at Knickerbocker Stadium to force
the series into what will essentially be a one-game
playoff. Detroit right-hander Clay
Gillespie had a big role in the win. He threw
9 innings of 6-hit ball.
Gillespie was in the zone all game. He frustrated
New York hitters while giving the Wolverines 9
innings of quality work. Gillespie threw 99 pitches,
allowing 6 hits and getting 4 punchouts.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Gillespie said.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at
Knickerbocker Stadium. The scheduled starters for
the game are Les
Nash for the Detroit Wolverines and John
Ambrose for the the New York Knickerbockers.
