World Series Game 1 Victory for Juarez and Cleveland
|
Leave it to the veteran.
The Cleveland Bobcats got a great start from 36-year-old right-hander Jose Juarez, as Cleveland won the contest, 5-2, at Lakefront Stadium. Juarez threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball in the win, which allowed the Cleveland to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Rich Cafarelli dealt the Hurons a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Cleveland leading 2-0, Cafarelli hit a full count sinker for a 2-run double.
"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Cleveland Bobcats (probably) 1963 World Series Champions'," Juarez told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Lakefront Stadium in Cleveland.
