Heath Masters St. Louis in Complete Game Win

The home crowd had a good time watching the St. Louis Explorers and San Diego Captains get after it.
The St. Louis Explorers had to reckon with San Diego Captains hurler Ray Heath. Heath, who finished 4th in the NBL in ERA with 2.85 in 1970, overwhelmed the opposition in the 6-1 Captains triumph. The slumping Explorers have lost 6 straight.
Heath was in the zone all game. He frustrated St. Louis hitters while giving the Captains 9 innings of quality work. Heath threw 96 pitches, allowing 3 hits and getting 5 punchouts.
"Ray did a tremendous job," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
