A 4-RBI performance from the 30-year old first baseman Don Bozza helped the Chicago Hawks beat the Seattle Emeralds, 8-5. The winning pitcher was 31-year old right-handed pitcher Mark Evert. He tossed 133 pitches over 9 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. The Hawks raised their record to 34-60.

Chicago second baseman Felipe Chavez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 14th hit of the season and put the Hawks ahead, 4-3.

"The team always comes first," Bozza told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
