Empires Beaten By Pobladores, 8-4
|
Los Angeles first baseman Chuck Gunter was instrumental in helping the Pobladores triumph, 8-4, over the New York Empires. Gunter went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Los Angeles is now 42-55.
The Empires had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Pobladores going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Arndt came to the plate. Arndt hit a 2-run double on a 2-2 curveball from New York hurler Nate Frampton. It was Arndt's 2nd double of the year.
"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Gunter told the Los Angeles Times.
