Hurons Squelch Northmen Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Toronto Hurons scooped up a win at Dominion Field, dumping the Twin Cities Northmen, 5-0. Larry Haines was essential to his team's success. Haines picked up the win for Toronto, going 8.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 6-7. Twin Cities's current losing streak is now 5 games.
Mark Clark had a big run-scoring double for the Hurons in the bottom of the first inning. With Toronto leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from top prospect Gerald Gross and swatted a double to center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hurons ahead, 2-0.
"Larry did a heck of a job," said Toronto manager Jim Burns.
