The Los Angeles Blockbusters beat the Denver Burros, 7-6, in part because of shortstop Pedro Villamil. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Jon Hampton in relief. His record improves to 4-4. John Suozzo took the loss. John Bailey, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities.

Los Angeles used a clutch at-bat from Ernie Ronnebaum to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Blockbusters ahead, 7-5. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Los Angeles manager John Trausch.

Los Angeles is now 51-54, Denver 45-59.
