3-2 Win Gets St. Louis to 58-48
|
The St. Louis Explorers picked up a win at Corps of Discovery Stadium, defeating the Denver Burros, 3-2. Starting pitcher Ramon Juarez was an essential part of his team's success. In 6.2 innings, Juarez surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Bernie Tate, who is tied for 8th in the NBL in holds with 7, earned the save for St. Louis.
Gary Parker, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1968 draft, took Denver hurler Bob Langham deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 3-run home run put the Explorers on top, 3-1. In all, Parker had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Denver manager Clark Anderson.
Denver, at 51-53, has lost 5 straight.
